Jennifer Seretan and Jennifer Fullilove are offering a series on scientific inquiry.

open to students grades 4, 7, and 9 only.

Scientific inquiry is an important part of Oregon and national educational standards. In Oregon, scientific inquiry benchmarks are measured during the 5th, 8th, and 10th grades.

AllPrep science teachers agree that meeting these standards are important because these skills will serve students’ higher-level thinking in a variety of settings. Besides, investigating questions and finding your own answers can be so rewarding and fun. We want to help prepare you for state assessments and skills by inviting you to join the science fair seminar.

These labs will replace a full unit in comparable Odyssey curriculum. Students will deepen their understanding of scientific investigation and create their own science fair project to present on April 12!

Writing Prompts/Journal Topics

1. Tell the story of an important turning point in your life when you had to make some kind of choice. Now think about what might have happened if you had made the other choice.

17. Write out your goals--for the world, for your lifetime, for next year, or for today. What one step could you take to start you towards achieving that goal?

18. Tell about someone who helped you or made a difference in your life.

19. Get it out of your system. Write about something that upset or angered you.

21. Make up a conversation with anyone, living or dead, that you would like to talk to.
